Hi @Ruby61 . Welcome to the forums! Like @AuntGlow mentioned, you can try to contact Spectrum in Melbourne but you may have trouble getting linked in with them as I know that you usually have to be linked in with a Area Mental Health Service - done through a hospital or community mental health service - with them doing a referral to them to consider if they’ll take you on as a client. My housemate has just spent the last 9 months doing this with her being under the care of our regions area mental health service and is still trying to get services from Spectrum with her case manager getting her acceptance to the service. They have a huge demand for their services and are now limited to who they can help due to not enough qualified staff and funding cuts to the whole mental health area in Victoria overall. They also target the most at risk clients to receive their treatment and support due to the demand on their services. My housemate was also told to use her private health insurance to get treatment in the private sector because of these issues accessing treatment options in the public system which she can’t afford.

There are unfortunately limited options that are cost effective for BPD in Victoria including Melbourne as I’ve since learnt via my housemate and her research into this condition and available treatment and support services. It’s like BPD is an issue the government doesn’t care about and want to fund despite it having major implications on the person and others around them and that’s a shame as these people are great people and deserve help just like other health conditions.
