Re: Work

Hi @Nw

welcome to the forums, it sounds like you have had a big couple of years, being out of work can be very stressful and getting back into it is overwhelming, takes patience and a lot of self-compassion and kindness.

The people in the forums will have lots of ideas on how to build yourself up and take the steps to get back into the workplace.

take care

Re: Work

Is there anybody who can assist you with the job seeking process? For example, could a family member help you look for work, even just occasionally? Are you on Jobseeker payment? If so, could your Service Provider assist you? This would take a lot of the burden off you so you would feel less dreadful about it.

I know I feel dreadful applying for work when I have to remember that my routine will change and that I have to devote myself to work rain, hail or shine all through the year, which leaves no more room for rest or play.

What about the job seeking process is particularly dreadful to you?

Re: Work

Hi @Nw ,

I really like @FearofUnknown 's practical suggestions of whether there is someone (individual or organisation) who can help you with the process.

I am also interested to know which parts of it feel the most dreadful and/or impossible for you, when you imagine the process?

If it feels overwhelming, would breaking it down into small steps help?

e.g.

1. Name a job I would have the skills / knowledge for.

2. Put that job into Seek/Indeed and copy the links into Word for 10 job ads.

*take a break - maybe even the rest of the day off*

3. Look at 1 job ad. What do I need to give them to apply? (a resume? a cover letter? a selection criteria?) Note down what that 1 job needs.

*take another break*.

etc etc etc, step by step.
