Managing thoughts of suicide & self-harm

Seeking advice/help.

Seeking advice/help.

Hi all,

Didn't know where else to turn.

Long term depression sufferer since I was about 13 am now 35, tried medication, counselling etc nothing seems to help and starting feel hopeless, i struggle with self harm thoughts nearly all day everyday at the moment.

I have turned quite heavily to drinking lately and now I drink daily as a way to manage but its just destroying my life more.

if anyone is feeling kind enough i was hoping for some advice/help on how to stop drinking alcohol all together.

Thank you in advance.

Hope you are all well.

Re: Seeking advice/help.

Hey @Ausship91 ,

I'm so sorry to hear that this road of depression has been a dark and difficult one.

Please don't lose hope. I was in that space for 15 years. It took a lot of work to get out of it and supports and therapies only worked for me when it was the 'right' time.

As for drinking.. it's well research that is depresses you further. Whilst it may help for a short time, soon after, the effects are worse than the beginning.

Things like exercise, clean eating, connection is certainly a start. However, I know this can be really hard for some people.

Is there anything you can do to help you feel that little bit better? Or something you can work towards?

Please know you are not alone. There IS hope.
