Panic disorder & getting back into work

Panic disorder & getting back into work

Hi there,

I have struggled with panic disorder for the last two years which made me leave my job I had at the time, I am now trying to get back into working as a medical receptionist again but I’m scared I’m going to have a panic attack when working and that I will feel trapped, is there anyone that has panic disorder and has been able to go back to work and manage there symptoms without leaving the job ? I am already on medications that have stopped them happening as regular.

Hey @Hellokitty246 🐈

A warm welcome and thanks for sharing your experiences with the community!

Sounds like you have already done really well to get yourself support on this journey, but I can also hear that because the panic disorder resulted in you having to leave your job previously, stepping back into the workplace feels a bit worrying.  Its valid to have some feelings come up when stepping back into something after a time away but it sounds like you are making a considered decision based on the supports you have around you.

It takes courage to share your experiences with the community, and you are being really brave reaching out to your peers. I'm sure that the community will have some insights to share with you soon! In the meantime, I'm going to add a couple resources below that might be helpful to have in mind when heading back to work (you might already have some favourites but just in case!)  Take care!
