A message to the forums community on behalf of ArraDreaming

A message to the forums community on behalf of ArraDreaming

You might have noticed I have been away for a while. I have been taking a break and spending more time offline to focus on other parts of my wellbeing.

It's been an uncomfortable 6 months in some ways, missing a lot of friends on here and connections. But in other ways it has been good.

I want to let you all know I am doing well. Some things that have happened over the past 6 months you might like to know:

  • It was my birthday recently
  • Spending lots of time outside with my family on weekend camping trips
  • We lost our dog Nicki to the Dreaming earlier in the year, maybe eaten rabbit bait in a reserve near us. Mum and her were always best friends and we’re still very sad about it but they deserve to be together we have been looking after another dog for a couple of weeks which has been healing, not the same as our Nic but a bit of fun to have a small dog in our house. His name is Coco
  • I’ve been running a lot and exercising a lot more, trying to look after myself
  • Volunteering with my son at his kindy
  • Still working 4 days a week and still really enjoying it
  • I have made a good group of friends local to us, mostly other dads we all get together on weekends with our kids I feel included in offline friendships for the first time in my life.
  • These social situations are getting easier for me the more I feel included and welcome the more I feel comfortable to speak
  • I’m not playing football this year but I’m helping both my boys with theirs
  • Our little bugs growing are youngest is nearly 10 months old, but she is still so little
  • I recently lost a mentor to me who was an important person to me he passed away recently and that’s been a sad time as he gave me a lot advice and patience over the years and welcomed me into his home and family
  • Trying to spend more time joining in culture with my family
  • Still having a hard time with my sister but I hope one day she can see some light I try not to let it weigh me down anymore.

There’s probably more but that’s it for now. I’m not too sure when I will be back, I am hoping to in future but just know I am ok, busy soaking up family time and watching my little bugs grow before my eyes 🐞I hope everyone here is doing what they can to get by.

I have learnt a lot from SANE and am grateful for all the support over such a long time but my priority is all of the those nice things happening in front of me, and through the difficult times that do come up I will remember all the support and advice I got on here to help get me through.

Turning cartwheels here @ArraDreaming from hearing from you ❤️

I am not on here much at all these days - much like you, there is a lot in real life I have to deal with as there has been a lot happening.

I have also very much missed you, our conversations, our connection and our friendship 🥰

There is so much positive from your words and that really makes me smile. The best thing is to hear how many friends you have and that you do things together. I know this has been difficult for you in the past so it is extremely heart warming to hear.

I am so sorry to hear about Nikki. I could imagine that would have been difficult enough on it's own however the connection to your Mum would have increased that grief but I have no doubt your Mum would be sp proud of all you are doing and all you are achieving ....as am I ❤️

I do miss you however also understand how "life" can lead us in different directions ...and sometimes recovery means we no longer need some of our supports in the same way - including here on the forum. I do see that as a good thing ...but we are always here in the future if you need. How much you engage here is up to you but please know how much you are missed, how wonderful it is to hear of the life you are building for yourself and how very, very proud I am of you 🥰
