Early Morning Waking

Early Morning Waking

Hey Everyone,

I have been having early morning awakening for about 2 months now. I was just wondering what does everyone do if they get Early Morning awakening?

Is it best to try to get some activity in? Or lay in bed and try to sleep in? What does everyone do? Or is there a way to get relief that I dont know about?

Love to hear your experience.

Re: Early Morning Waking

Hi @Anonymouse1000

I get it sometimes. I did get up and clean the house at 3 in the morning on morning. My psych said that that wasn’t a good idea and to just stay in bed and relax.

I also do shift work and some of the advice that ‘experts’ (most have never done nightshift) say to just lay in bed if we wake up. As your body is still resting even though you aren’t physically asleep. I have done this on numerous occasions for night shift and I usually get through the shift.

I don’t know if any of that helps but just what I have been told.

I do hope sleep finds you soon though.

@Anonymouse1000 in chinese medicine there is something called the chi cycle and it looks something like this:

Each time window represents when an organ in your body becomes active. If you can check which time window you are waking up in it will indicate an organ of your body needs healing. For example waking between 1am and 3am is to do with your liver and you may like to explore healing your liver. I usually get acupuncture or take herbs and do detox.

Another thing you can do is something called 4-7-8 breath. I learned it from an online sleep doctor on you tube. After you wake up your heart rate goes up and it can be very difficult to settle yourself back to sleep. Keep lights off in your house as light will stop your melatonin production and keep you awake and if you need to go to the bathroom move slowly with eyes 9/10ths closed and go back to bed. Its not advised to do activities around the house.

Then do 4-7-8 breath: inhale 4 four count, hold for 7 count and exhale through pursed lips for 8 counts will lower your heart rate and you will get back to sleep.

If you want more information on the chi cycle there is a book called The Perfect Day Plan by Jost Sauer and by following the chi cycle during the day and night you can reset your body clock. Its a great little book and there are easy actionable steps you can begin to use straight away. The book can be read in a weekend.

If you are worried about tripping over in the dark you can get glow in the dark flourescent sticky tape that you can put on door knobs, switches and so forth. I have it and I bought from an Aussie Survival Supplies store. The tape I bought is one of the better quality ones its best to read reviews and all about their manufacture. Mine is used in the defence forces so its a quality reliable tape.

Thanks @Bunniekins @SmilingGecko @Captain24

These are all very helpful suggestions! Thank you!

I found i have been staying very still in bed but the early morning wake up makes me also sweat so bad.

I need to figure out a way around that... maybe cold showers?

Re: Early Morning Waking

Hey @Anonymouse1000

The hot sweats has me asking a random question? I know you would probably rather not say but could age be a factor?

Im finding that I get them occasionally but I do also have 2 dogs on the bed with me. It’s not always the dogs though.

Also if you don’t have air conditioning could you possibly consider a cooling blanket?

Re: Early Morning Waking

I read mid-forties and was like ahhhh. But then I read male. Oops. Sorry. @Anonymouse1000

I wasn’t saying it wasn’t a depression thing, I was just putting some idea out there that’s all.
